Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty and Brow Suspension
Eyelid surgery is an increasingly popular option for both men and women in our society. The use of laser in this type of surgery has revolutionised the recovery time and the cost to the individual.
Individuals now have the option of ageing more gracefully and in turn, increasing their self esteem and improving their appearance.
The eye is one of the first areas on the body to show the "telltale" signs of entry into middle age and now, with simple day surgery to the eye, the clock can be turned back and a more vibrant, youthful appearance is available to all.
Blepharoplasty using the laser is a method of removing excess fat from the upper and lower eye lids, removing that puffy appearance your may have. The procedure helps to remove bags from the lower eye lids and hooding of the upper eyelids.
Lower Blepharoplasty
An incision using the laser is made on the inside of the eye lid and the fat is then removed. There is very little bleeding as the laser seals the blood vessels as it moves. There is no scar evident with this type of bag removal as the procedure is performed on the inside of the eye lid.
Upper Blepharoplasty
An incision is made on the outside of the eye lid and excess skin (which causes the eye lid to droop) is removed along with any excess fat. The eye lid is then sutured together using tiny sutures and the new; barley visible scar becomes the new fold of the eye lid.
Brow Suspension
A brow suspension can be done in conjunction with an upper Blepharoplasty or by itself. This procedure helps to suspend the eye brow a little higher in the outer third of the brow. Some people require this procedure due to gradual drop in the eye brow, which over time has made the eye region smaller. Brow suspension involves lifting the brow (usually about half a centimeter) and keeping it suspended by three very carefully placed sutures. These sutures dissolve after about six weeks, by which time the brow is fixed to the desired position, giving the eye a brighter more defined effect.
