Why a larger penis?
 |
For Increased Sexual Pleasure |
|
Sexual pleasure is a function of your technique and the shape of your sexual body parts. While there may be debate as to which is more important, if you have both you should be able to approach your relationships with added confidence. Today, an increasing number of women express a desire to experience good technique and good size. So if your penis is of average size and you would like to experience a new pleasure for yourself and enhanced sexual enjoyment for your companion, you may wish to consider this operation. |

To Improve Body Image |

If your penis is somewhat smaller than average, you may wish to have the operation simply so that you can feel normal when, for example, you are in the shower at the gym after a workout. Increased size is ensured with this relatively straight forward cosmetic procedure. |
Penile lengthening has been available for at least 30 years, whilst the widening procedure, a relatively new technique, has been possible since around 1988. This is still an evolving procedure and one that can provide dramatic results and is done by one of two techniques.
How is it done?
The first procedure to widen the penis is done by fat injection. Fat is harvested from the patient's own buttocks or abdomen and injected beneath the skin of the shaft of the penis. It is then evenly distributed to increase the circumference. The second procedure to widen the penis is done by dermal fat grafting. The dermal fat graft is taken from the buttock/thigh fold and inserted beneath the skin of the shaft of the penis.
Penile lengthening is done by cutting the ligaments at the base of the penis via a low abdominal incision. These ligaments act as the "guy ropes of the tent" and once severed allow the penis to lengthen naturally.
The two procedures widening and lengthening can be performed simultaneously or individually.
Both are done as day surgery cases under general anaesthetic.
Can I choose my own shape and size?
Size is limited by the initial size of the penis. However normally an increase of 1-2cms, in diameter and 2.5-7cms in length is normal.
Can I smoke before or after surgery?
Smoking must be stopped two weeks prior to surgery, and for six months after surgery. Healing and recovery is inhibited and the chance of wound breakdown/infection is greatly increased. This can be explained to you in greater detail during your initial consultation.
What will I look like immediately after the procedure? Will I look good?
Following the widening procedure the penis will be very red and swollen. Recovery is usually only 1-2 days with fat injection and patients can return to normal physical activities within a week. Recovery with dermal fat grafting takes up to 14 days. Sexual activity can be resumed after six weeks.
In the penile lengthening technique a small wound at the base of the abdomen is the only evidence of surgery. This wound heals quickly and is well disguised by the pubic hair. Following lengthening both the penis and the scrotum are swollen and this takes some time to resolve. It is usually possible to return to work in two weeks.
Is this treatment permanent?
Penile lengthening is a permanent treatment.
Penile widening by fat injection, however, is not permanent. Everybody will experience fat reabsorption within weeks to months. Top up procedures can be performed to maintain the circumference size. Fat loss is often not symmetrical causing lumps (the cobble stone penis or pseudolipomas). This produces considerable deformity that may require surgery for its correction. For this reason the Australian Centre for Penile Surgery does not recommend penile widening by fat injection. We do however offer the surgery for correction of the cobble stone penis.
An alternative technique for widening called dermal fat grafting is permanent in 98% of cases, and produces excellent results.
NB. Patients who are not circumcised will need simultaneous circumcision in order to avoid problems that would result from the thickened foreskin if it were to remain intact following penile widening.
What are the risks?
Both procedures (lengthening and/or widening) are generally of low risk and constitute those general risks associated with any surgery such as infection and bleeding. In fat transferal and penile lengthening there is no interference with function, sensation, erection or urination. While dermal fat grafting is permanent, fat transfer by injection is not.
Scarring?
Signs of surgery will be as minimal as possible. It is impossible to cut the skin and have no signs of surgery. Your incisions will fade and be reasonably disguised by the pubic hair at the front, and in the underside of the buttock folds or the back. Occasionally a small amount of pubic hair may appear on the pelvic end of the shaft, which may be removed by laser.
Retraction:
Retraction can occur under 2 sets of circumstances.
Result of normal scar contraction, this is managed by post-operative scar stretching exercises. Failure of the patient to perform this scar stretching exercise properly may result in the retraction not being corrected fully, with permanent loss of some or all of the extra length gained at surgery.
Secondly it may result, in very rare circumstances, from the patients own natural excessive production of adrenaline, which may cause the penis to shrink.
