Deep wrinkles and skin folds that appear in the face with age can be improved with a long lasting dermal filler. The dermal filler is a stable gel and apyrogenous water mix, which can be injected in small amounts and then manipulated by the surgeon. It is commonly used to improve the appearance of nasolabial folds and frown lines between the eyebrows. It can also be used to add volume to the cheek area and lips as an alternative to cheek implants, or to improve the appearance of facial scars and acne pits.
Although the filler is long-lasting, in the unlikely event of over correction occurring the excess filler can be aspirated with a small needle. The gel has had over 8 years of rigorous clinical examination and has been shown to be non-toxic, non-mutagenic, biocompatible, permanent, removable and both physically and chemically stable.
The injection may be painful and is therefore given under a local anaesthetic. Swelling and slight bruising can be expected, which disappears within a few days and can usually be concealed with make-up.
Cost: $1,500.00 per ml of Permanent Tissue Filler. The amount of filler needed will depend on the areas being treated and the circumstances of each patient. Advice as to cost will be given at consultation with Dr Moore.
