“not too big, not too little, those are just right”
Thanks Goldilocks. “Just right,” is not something you hear women say too often about the shape and size of their breasts. Many women suffer from the embarrassment and discomfort of large breasts, the dissatisfaction and poor self-esteem of breasts that are too small and a lack of confidence from deflated, misshapen or surgically removed breasts, (for reasons of ill health).
A consultation with The Australian Centre for Cosmetic Surgery will guide you through the process of choosing the right (and left) breast for you.
Breast Augmentation – would you like to upsize that?
The goal of any breast augmentation is to achieve natural-looking breasts that are in proportion with the rest of your body and are not overdone like Pamela Anderson’s “overdone” in the early 90’s. As a part of your consultation you will be able to feel and try a variety of sample implants.
These are a set size, round or anatomical in shape and made of an outer pliable envelope enclosing a saline or cohesive gel filling. The surface is textured and together with your surgeon you will select your optimal “just right” size.
Saline is similar to the fluid that makes up the fluid in 70% of the body and in case of a leak is safely absorbed by the body.
The cohesive gel filling gives a very natural breast feel.
This option allows you to reduce or enlarge your breasts in the future to suit your changing body. Originally implanted empty they are filled by the surgeon using a valve at the bottom of the implant. The valve remains in place inside the breast and can be felt by the surgeon to increase the size if desired post-surgery once the initial swelling has subsided so they are “just right”.
Options abound with this style of implant; the valve can be removed at a future time, you can increase or decrease months or years later and are able to be fully deflated to allow for natural breast growth during pregnancy and breast feeding.
Combinations of saline and cohesive gel implants are also available.
Breast Reduction – take it down a notch.
Proportion is the key word here. Breast reduction is ideal for women who are burdened with back, neck and shoulder pain and skin irritation beneath their out of proportion breasts. The weight of the breast tissue can also hinder the ability to lead an active life with no amount of sports bras able to contain and restrain suitably.
During breast reduction, skin, fat and glandular tissue is removed and stitches deep inside the breast tissue are placed to add support. A nipple graft may need to be done in some cases (to make sure you are pointing up and out rather than looking down).
Reduction surgery aims at increasing self-confidence, physical comfort and positive body image, “just right”.
Breast Lift – on the up and up.
Post breast feeding boob sag getting you down, gravity not being your friend? Then Mastopexy, commonly known as a breast lift could be the breast choice for you. This option is for those that are ”just right” in the cup size department but are too low in the sagging, breast length, gravity is not my friend department. Breast lift surgery can assist to restore much desired firmness and improve shape to your breasts.
The Australian Centre for Cosmetic Surgery knows which breast is best for all shapes, sizes and desires and wants to assist you to celebrate your shape.
